We often feel compelled to infuse every aspect of our lives with the values from our spiritual world, viewing existence through a singular "spiritual lens." However, this perspective can be limiting. Just as a camera can utilize various lenses—each altering the field of view, depth, and light intake—our identities can encompass multiple facets, each offering a unique perspective. The camera remains constant, but the lens changes the perception. Similarly, we can embody different identities in parallel, each resonating with distinct values and engaging with diverse communities. These identities may align in essence but need not be fully integrated.

Embracing this multiplicity allows us to navigate various paths simultaneously, without the necessity of merging them into a singular narrative. This approach acknowledges the complexity of our experiences and the richness that comes from engaging authentically in different spheres of our lives.

Often, we’re so focused on our personal identity that we don’t realize our spiritual identity might be running parallel—a whole other life unfolding within us. Society tends to suggest that these two aspects must merge into a single, cohesive "self." But that’s not necessarily the case.

In fact, you can exist as two things at once, and that duality can be a source of strength, not confusion. One of the most profound lessons of spiritual growth is learning to embody multiple facets of yourself simultaneously. This doesn’t mean living a deceitful double life. It’s about embracing the fluidity of who you are and allowing your various identities to coexist in harmony.

Take, for example, a mother living in a community that doesn’t share or even understand spiritual concepts. In that space, she may not speak much about her spiritual life. But within a different circle—a spiritual community—she might thrive as a full-time healer, fully immersed in her calling. Both identities are authentic. Both are valid. She is living her truth in both worlds, even if they don’t intersect.

Your spiritual identity will grow and evolve, just as your personal identity does. The beauty lies in choosing how and when to share different aspects of yourself. You’re not obligated to offer every part of your being to everyone at once. Instead, you can respond to the person in front of you in a way that honours the moment and your connection with them. This isn’t about hiding—it’s about being a light in ways that are accessible and meaningful.

Think of yourself as a multifaceted crystal. When you look at a crystal, you only see one shimmering face at a time. To see its full beauty, you have to turn it, experiencing each angle individually. You can’t see all sides at once, nor can anyone else. And that’s okay. Each facet reflects a different part of the whole.

You are that crystal—complex, radiant, and endlessly fascinating. Embrace the mystery of your spiritual identity and let it shine in the ways that feel right for you. Your light doesn’t have to be one-dimensional. It can refract and illuminate in many different directions, showing only what’s needed in each moment.

You are both the prism and the light it reflects—whole, beautiful, and always expanding.
